Kumusta readers,
This week is Philippines language week, in Tagalog it means lingo ng wikang Filipino. The celebration is celebrated not only to celebrate the language it is also a way to celebrate our culture. The celebration lasts a month long. Why do some Filipino names and words sound like Spanish? That is because a long time ago the Spain colonised the Philippines and that colonisation took 333 years until it ended. Aguinaldo is the known person who beat the Spain in the war. Did you know that there are 170 languages in the Philippines!
Did you also know that when the colour red is on the top and blue is on the bottom of the flag, when you see that it means that it is war.
What is something new you learnt about the Philippines?
Thank you for reading this blog post, I hope you had fun and have an awesome day!!! :D
I am a Year 7 student in the Uru MÄnuka Cluster. This is a place where I will share my learning. Please note that some of it will not be complete, it will be my first drafts. Remember to be positive, thoughtful and helpful when you leave me a comment.

Kumusta Khiel,
ReplyDeleteAn informative blog! I learned about the war flag and the number of languages. How many islands are there in the Philippines?
I have been thinking why we say 'the Philippines' and not 'the New Zealand'?? I thought it was because The Philippines has many islands...but NZ also has many islands...hmmm!
