Fiorland!

 Kumusta readers,

Our reading group have been learning about Fiordland. We started learning about Fiorland two weeks ago, we used google maps to find where Fiordland is and what the area looks like. We are learning about Fiordland because we needed to know why we cant build stuff there and why the area is important.

Our group had to research about Fiordland, and put the facts into a DLO. We had to make the slide detailed and make the slide as creative as possible. The first thing I did was create a new slide, then I had to make multiple slides with facts and pictures.

Here is my DLO.

Did you learn something new about Fiordland?

Can you fix the surface features?

 Kumusta readers,

We are learning how to fix surface features. Surface features are little bits in your writing. Surface features are like finding the ends of sentences and correcting your spelling it is also to change different words that are repeated in the story and you had to replace it with another word. We use surface features to make sure that our writing makes sense and easier for other people to read. Here is an example without surface features: thissentsaChulymakessen Zbuttisrellyhrd to reed. Here is the sentence but with surface features: this sentence actually makes sense but it is really hard to read.

On our Room 9 writing site our teacher put on a link to a story that we had to fix. We made our own copy and put it in our writing folder. We had to read it once and find the end of the sentences. The second time we had to read it, we had to highlight and fix the repeated words and change the word to another word. The 3rd time we read it we had to make sure that we understood it and it was easier to read for the readers. The hard part about the writing was changing the repeated word and replacing the words with different words. The word that I replaced was he, all of the yellow highlighted words used to be he.

This is what we had to fix.

Here is the writing but with surface features.

What word have you over used in stories? Can you see the changes that I have made? If so leave a comment of what changes you see!

Mozaik Flower Art

 Kumusta readers,

Today I am posting my mozaik flower art. Mozaik art is a kind of art but you use tiles. Here is a link to some mozaik arts. For 2 weeks our class has been doing mozaik art for the flower show. We used peaces of Resene paint paper, cut them up and glued them into our piece of paper. We had to fill in the inside and create a background using the peaces of paper.

Here is my mozaik art.

Have you ever seen mozaik art before?

Where is the present!

Konichiwa readers,

Today I am posting my story called Where is the present! We had to write a short 3 paragraphs descriptive story about a birthday while also using language features. My story is all about me running 1 hour late for my friends birthday party, but when it was time to give out the present I could not find the present so I had to go back home and find it. The rules of the descriptive writing was to keep it to 3 paragraphs, use as much language features and make it descriptive.

Here is my story called Where is the present!

Weekly Words (Zen)

 Kumusta readers,

Today I am posting my word for this week. This term our teacher does not choose the word of the week, us students choose the word of the week. The word that I chose is Zen, zen is when you feel peace full and relaxed. To complete the word of the week, we needed to go back to our weekly words slide and use a dictionary to find out the definition, an example online and come up with our own sentence.

Here is my slide.

When was the last time you felt zen?
